Latest Updates from Our Project:

First Articles
over 8 years ago – Fri, Jun 24, 2016 at 08:20:06 PM

Hello Backers!

Over the last week we have received the First Articles from our manufacturing partner and we have been testing them extensively. First Articles are made to catch any minor issues that can arise in the manufacturing process. There have been a few issues, but they will be corrected in the final batch.

Without much further ado, what you will soon be receiving.

Thanks again for your continued support and backing.

We are still on track to ship out in early July.

Thanks,
The Cubit Team

 Hi everyone,

We decided to come to do something a little different in this update. Check out this video and get the latest info on Cubit!

Have a great weekend,

Friday Update
over 8 years ago – Fri, Apr 29, 2016 at 11:04:43 PM

Hello to our wonderful Backers,

We have a lot of news and pictures in today’s update. Let’s get started.

Zener Diodes and Other Components have arrived

Our Zener Diodes have arrived alongside a large shipment of other components. We now have hundreds of servo motors, sensors, resistors, diodes, capacitors, and LCD screens ready to be assembled.

Each Smartware needs to be attached to a Cubit Controller so it can be auto-recognized and you can start programming. So we needed thousands and thousands of connector cables.

Cases

All of our plastic Cubit Controller cases and AC switch cases have also arrived.

Boxes

Check out how Cubit is going to be arriving to your door.

Chromebook

Cubit Workshop has also been moving forward while we wait on the manufacturing to finish. We have gotten a lot of interest from schools for Cubit. Many schools primarily use Chromebook and with most Chromebooks having a built-in bluetooth module, it is a perfect match for Cubit.

Maker Faires and Robotics Clubs

We continue to test and refine the Cubit experience with Makers, Robotics Clubs, and Schools. Check out these amazing kids building incredible Cubit inventions at our local Mini-Maker Faire in Benicia and the BMLK Reaching Out with Robotics Club.

We’ll be doing more frequent updates as we get feedback from on manufacturing partners on progress or any delays on their end. Thanks again to all of you for making this possible! We are truly grateful.

Sincerely,
The Cubit Team

Introducing HyperCubit
over 8 years ago – Fri, Apr 01, 2016 at 07:48:41 PM

Hello Backers,

When we began developing Cubit, we simply didn't have the technology to go as far as we wanted. After nearly three years of development, we're excited to announce our newest innovation: HyperCubit: Cubit for the fourth dimension.

We realized early on that three spacial dimensions just isn't enough. It’s always been our plan to expand into a direction not currently conceptualizable by humans, but the math just wasn’t there when we started.

A motivation for doing this is fitting all the components into such a small volume. A four dimensional hypercube just allows much more flexibility. Once we committed to using an entirely new dimension, we realized Workshop would need to increase dimensionality too. That’s right: Workshop has gone 3D.

We still need to solve a few spacetime distortion problems, but we feel this is achievable. Exciting times are ahead!

Friday Update
almost 9 years ago – Fri, Mar 25, 2016 at 07:47:08 PM

Hello Backers,

We have both happy and sad news for you today. The sad news first. We have another snag in our manufacturing pipeline. We have had to find another source for one of the critical components to the Cubit Controller and Multiplexer, a Zener Diode. One of our suppliers backed out at the last moment, gave our money back, and will not be able to deliver the component. We have, however, found a new source for the 9000 diodes that we require, but there is a 3-4 week lead time for delivery.

What does this mean for shipping out Cubit Kits? The new shipping estimate for Cubit Kits is estimated for late April to early May. It is quite disappointing for us to have pushed back the shipping date so far from our original timeline, but we are resolved to fight through any setbacks and get Cubit out the door.

For happy news, we have moved to a new larger office in Oakland, CA. We have also brought on board our 7th team member, Denise Suto. Denise is an experienced teacher and STEAM educator. She is helping us develop Cubit lessons and tutorials as well as doing marketing and outreach. Denise is a great addition to the team and has already contributed greatly to refining Cubit for release.

Creating and developing Cubit has been an amazing journey. Even with some delays and setbacks along the way, we are determined to get Cubit into our backers hands. We are anxious to see all the incredible creations that our ingenious backers will make. Please reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns.

Happy Friday and have a great weekend,
The Cubit Team
